Liberty County is a United States county located in the United States of Montana. It is home to over 2158 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 1725 in July 2008, making it Montana's 11th smallest county. The county spans an area of 1447.19 sq mi (3748.2 square kilometre), of which, 1429.76 square miles (3703.06 square kilometre) of it is land and 17.44 square miles (45.17 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the tenth smallest by total area among Montana's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2158 people, 833 households, and 584 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.5 people per square mile (0.58/kmē), it is Montana's 15th least densely populated county. There were 1070 housing units at an average density of 0.7 per square mile (0.27/kmē). The average household size was 2.51 people, and the average family size was 3.11 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1725, The racial makeup of the county was 1699 White, 0 Black or African American, 10 American Indian, 7 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 9 from two or more races.
