Liberty County is a United States county located in the United States of Georgia. The county has a population of 61610 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 58491, making it the 38th most populous county in Georgia. The county extends throughout a territory of 602.52 sq mi (1560.52 square kilometre ), of which, 519.05 square miles (1344.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 83.47 square miles (216.19 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Georgia.

The population density was 118.7 people per square mile (45.83/kmē), making its Georgia's 45th most densely populated county. There were 21977 housing units at an average density of 42.3 per square mile (16.33/kmē). The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.29. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 32% under the age of 18, 17.9% from 18 to 24, 33.9% from 25 to 44, 12.2% from 45 to 64, and 3.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 111.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 115.1 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 58491, The racial makeup of the county was 29913 White, 24886 Black or African American, 423 American Indian, 1087 Asian, 317 Native Hawaiian, and 1865 from two or more races.
