Liberty County, Florida is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 7021 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 7957, It is Florida's least populous county. Its area is just over 843.16 square miles (2183.77 square kilometre), of which, 835.87 square miles (2164.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.29 square miles (18.88 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 34th largest by total area among Florida's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7021 people in the county, organized into 2222 households, and 1554 families living in the county. The population density was 8.4 people per square mile (3.24/kmē), making it the least densely populated county in Florida. There were 3156 housing units at an average density of 3.8 per square mile (1.47/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 3 persons. In the county Age distribution was 21.8% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 37.7% from 25 to 44, 21% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 69 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 62.7 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7957, The racial makeup of the county was 6234 White, 1491 Black or African American, 135 American Indian, 14 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 83 from two or more races.
