Liberal City is a United States city located in the Barton County, Missouri, United States. In 2000, city's population was 779 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 774, It is the 401st largest by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.84 mi˛ (2.18 square kilometre), of which, 0.84 square miles (2.18 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 459th largest by total area in Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 779 people, 328 households, and 213 families living in the city. The population density was 930.7 people per square mile (359.35/km˛), it is Missouri's 458th most densely populated city. There were 361 housing units at an average density of 429.8 per square mile (165.95/km˛). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.98.
