Lexington City is a city in the Henderson County, Tennessee, United States. The population of the city was 7393 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7860, It is Tennessee's 69th largest by population . It covers total area of 11.71 sq mi (30.33 kmē), of which, 11.54 square miles (29.89 kmē) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 kmē) of it is water, it is the 68th largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 7393 residents, 5369 households, and 3232 families in the city. The population density was 640.4 people per square mile (247.26/kmē), giving it the 162nd most densely populated city among the Tennessee. There were 3371 housing units at an average density of 292.1 per square mile (112.78/kmē). The average household size was 2.32 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 24% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 17% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.7 males. The median age was 37.9 years, The median age of males was 35.5 years, for females the median age was 39.6 years. The racial makeup of the city was 6247 White, 966 Black or African American, 10 American Indian, 19 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, 118 from two or more races and 31 Ohter races.
