Lexington City is a city located in the Lafayette County, Missouri, United States. In 2000, the population was 4453. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 4551, It is the 146th largest by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. The city has a total area of 3.66 mi˛ (9.48 square kilometre), of which, 3.48 square miles (9.01 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 169th largest by size in Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4453 people in the city, organized into 1815 households, and 1210 families residing in the city. The population density was 1279.7 people per square mile (494.09/km˛), making its Missouri's 249th most densely populated city. There were 2015 housing units at an average density of 579 per square mile (223.55/km˛). The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.9.
