Lexington-fayette is a United States city located in the Fayette County, Kentucky, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 260512 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 282114, It is the largest in terms of population. The city has a total area of 285.52 mi˛ (739.49 square kilometre), of which, 284.52 square miles (736.9 square kilometre) of it is land and 1 square miles (2.59 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the largest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Kentucky.
