Lewis County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 11367 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 11564, making it Tennessee's 12th smallest county. It covers total area of 282.48 miē (731.62 kmē), of which, 282.09 square miles (730.61 kmē) of it is land and 0.38 square miles (0.98 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 17th smallest by total area among Tennessee's county.

For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 11564, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.43% White, 2.1% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.42% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.82% from two or more races.
