Lewis County is a county located in Idaho, in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Lewis County had an official population of 3747 in 2000. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3594, It is the fifth least populous county in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county extends throughout a territory of 479.81 square miles (1242.7 square kilometre ), of which, 479.04 square miles (1240.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.77 square miles (1.99 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the fourth smallest by total area in Idaho.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3747 people in the county, organized into 1554 households, and 1050 families residing in the county. The population density was 7.8 people per square mile (3.01/kmē), it is 23rd most densely populated county in Idaho. There were 1795 housing units at an average density of 3.7 per square mile (1.43/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 people, and the average family size was 2.92 people. The population's age distribution was 25.4% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.2 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 3594, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.24% White, 0.36% Black or African American, 5.31% American Indian, 0.47% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.56% from two or more races.
