Lewes City is a city in the Sussex County, Delaware, United States. As of 2000 the population was 2932. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 3127, It is Delaware's 25th largest by population . The city extends throughout a territory of 4.29 square miles (11.11 square kilometre ), of which, 3.66 square miles (9.48 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 12th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Delaware.

The population density was 801.5 people per square mile (309.46/kmē), making it the 15th least densely populated city in Delaware.
