Levy County is a county in the United States of Florida. Levy County had an official population of 34450 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 39460, It is the 22nd least populous county in the U.S. state of Florida. The county spans an area of 1412.32 square miles (3657.89 square kilometre), of which, 1118.38 square miles (2896.59 square kilometre) of it is land and 293.94 square miles (761.3 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Florida's tenth largest county by total area. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 34450 people, 13867 households, and 9674 families residing in the county. The population density was 30.8 people per square mile (11.89/kmē), it is 12th least densely populated county in Florida. There were 16570 housing units at an average density of 14.8 per square mile (5.71/kmē). The average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.6% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.8 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 39460, The racial makeup of the county was 87.05% White, 10.83% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 0.46% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.18% from two or more races.
