Lemhi County is a county located in the United States of Idaho. The county has a population of 7806 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7808, making it Idaho's 13th smallest county. The county spans an area of 4569.5 sq mi (11834.95 square kilometre), of which, 4564.16 square miles (11821.12 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.35 square miles (13.86 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the fourth largest by total area among Idaho's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7806 residents, 3275 households, and 2217 families in the county. The population density was 1.7 people per square mile (0.66/kmē), it is Idaho's sixth least densely populated county. There were 4154 housing units at an average density of 0.9 per square mile (0.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.91. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.5% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 7808, The racial makeup of the county was 7603 White, 10 Black or African American, 60 American Indian, 14 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 118 from two or more races.
