Leitchfield City, Grayson County, Kentucky is a city located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 6139 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6537, It is the 74th largest by population in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is spread over 8.8 square miles (22.79 kmē), of which, 8.77 square miles (22.71 kmē ) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 kmē) of it is water, making it the 37th largest by size in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6139 people, 2485 households, and 1615 families living in the city. The population density was 700.1 people per square mile (270.31/kmē), it is Kentucky's 133rd least densely populated city. There were 2797 housing units at an average density of 318.9 per square mile (123.13/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 or older.
