Lee County is a one of the county from North Carolina's 100 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 49040 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 59091, It is the 43rd largest county by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The county extends throughout a territory of 259.33 sq mi (671.66 sq km ), of which, 257.26 square miles (666.3 sq km) of it is land and 2.07 square miles (5.36 sq km) of it is water, giving it the seventh smallest by total area among North Carolina's county.

The population density was 190.6 people per square mile (73.59/kmē), it is the 25th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population's age distribution was 25.7% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95 males. Its population was estimated at 59091 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 46016 White, 11756 Black or African American, 334 American Indian, 452 Asian, 42 Native Hawaiian, and 491 from two or more races.
