Lee County is one of the 120 county of Kentucky, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lee County is home to 7916 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 7414 in July 2008, giving it the 11th smallest population among Kentucky's county. It covers total area of 211.22 mi˛ (547.06 sq km), of which, 209.86 square miles (543.53 sq km) of it is land and 1.36 square miles (3.52 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 23rd smallest by total area in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7916 people, 2985 households, and 2122 families living in the county. The population density was 37.7 people per square mile (14.56/km˛), it would be the 30th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Kentucky. There were 3321 housing units at an average density of 15.8 per square mile (6.1/km˛). The average household size was 2.41 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the Lee County, 22.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 9% were 18 to 24, 30.3% were 25 to 44, 23.6% were 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 109.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 111.8 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 7414, The racial makeup of the county was 7015 White, 303 Black or African American, 23 American Indian, 7 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 65 from two or more races.
