Lee County, Florida is a county of the United States of Florida. The population of the county was 440888 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 593136, making it Florida's eighth largest county. It has total area of 1211.89 sq mi (3138.78 kmē), of which, 803.63 square miles (2081.39 kmē) of it is land and 408.26 square miles (1057.39 kmē) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 440888 residents, 188599 households, and 127611 families in the county. The population density was 548.6 people per square mile (211.82/kmē), it is Florida's tenth most densely populated county. There were 245405 housing units at an average density of 305.4 per square mile (117.92/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.31 persons, and the average family size was 2.73 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 19.6% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 24% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 25.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 593136, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 89.05% White, 8.04% Black or African American, 0.42% American Indian, 1.33% Asian, 0.08% Native Hawaiian, and 1.08% from two or more races.
