Lawrence County is a one of the county from Missouri's 115 counties and independent city, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 35204 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 37757 in July 2008, It is the 30th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county spans an area of 613.38 miē (1588.65 kmē), of which, 613.08 square miles (1587.87 kmē) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 kmē) of it is water, making it Missouri's 55th largest county by total area.

The population density was 57.4 people per square mile (22.16/kmē), it is Missouri's 30th most densely populated county. There were 14789 housing units at an average density of 24.1 per square mile (9.31/kmē). The average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the county Age distribution was 27.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.6 females. Its population was estimated at 37757 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 96.81% White, 0.56% Black or African American, 0.82% American Indian, 0.38% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.39% from two or more races.
