Lawrence City, Marion County, Indiana is a city located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 38915 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 43247, It is 17th most populous in Indiana. The city has a total area of 20.18 miē (52.27 kmē), of which, 20.08 square miles (52.01 kmē) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 kmē) of it is water, making it Indiana's 21st largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 38915 residents, 14853 households, and 10332 families in the city. The population density was 1937.8 people per square mile (748.19/kmē), making its Indiana's 180th most densely populated city.
