Laurens County is a county located in the United States of South Carolina. The population of the county was 69567 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 69681, making it the 19th most populous county in South Carolina. It has total area of 723.98 square miles (1875.1 kmē), of which, 715.11 square miles (1852.13 kmē) of it is land and 8.87 square miles (22.97 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 18th largest by total area in South Carolina.

In the county Age distribution was 25.3% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.4 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 69681, The racial makeup of the county was 72.81% White, 25.5% Black or African American, 0.51% American Indian, 0.29% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.82% from two or more races.
