Latimer County is a United States county located in the United States of Oklahoma. As of 2000 the population was 10692. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10561, It is the 20th least populous county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county comprises an area of 729.12 square miles (1888.41 square kilometre), of which, 722.17 square miles (1870.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.95 square miles (18 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 49th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10692 people, 3951 households, and 2869 families living in the county. The population density was 14.8 people per square mile (5.71/kmē), it is 23rd least densely populated county in Oklahoma. There were 4709 housing units at an average density of 6.5 per square mile (2.51/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.54 persons, and the average family size was 3 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 11.4% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.6 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10561, The racial makeup of the county was 71.83% White, 1.4% Black or African American, 19.53% American Indian, 0.18% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 7.04% from two or more races.
