Las Vegas City is a one of the Clark County, Nevada, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Las Vegas City had an official population of 478434 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 558383 in July 2008, It is the largest by population in the U.S. state of Nevada. It covers total area of 113.36 mi˛ (293.6 square kilometre), of which, 113.31 square miles (293.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the eighth largest by size in Nevada. It is ranks 16 in the size of its inland waterways in Nevada.

As of the census of 2000, there were 478434 people, 176750 households, and 117466 families residing in the city. The population density was 4222.5 people per square mile (1630.32/km˛), it would be the second most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Nevada. There were 190724 housing units at an average density of 1683.2 per square mile (649.89/km˛). The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.19. In the Las Vegas City, 25.9% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.8% were 18 to 24, 32% were 25 to 44, 21.7% were 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5 males. The median age of the city's population was 34.5 years, the median age of male residents at 33.9 and the median age of female residents at 35.1. The racial makeup of the city was 69.86% White, 10.36% Black or African American, 0.75% American Indian, 4.78% Asian, 0.45% Native Hawaiian, 4.05% from two or more races and 9.75% Other races.
