Larue County, Kentucky is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 13373 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 13722 in July 2008, It is Kentucky's 39th least populous county. The county has a total area of 263.72 mi˛ (683.03 sq km), of which, 263.2 square miles (681.68 sq km) of it is land and 0.53 square miles (1.37 sq km) of it is water, it is the 81st largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13373 people in the county, organized into 5275 households, and 3866 families living in the county. The population density was 50.8 people per square mile (19.61/km˛), it is Kentucky's 70th most densely populated county. There were 5860 housing units at an average density of 22.3 per square mile (8.61/km˛). The average household size was 2.49 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 13722, The racial makeup of the county was 12978 White, 502 Black or African American, 27 American Indian, 22 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 189 from two or more races.
