Lane County is a county located in the United States of Oregon. In 2000, the population was 322959. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 346560, making it the fourth most populous county in Oregon. It is spread over 4721.79 miē (12229.38 kmē), of which, 4554 square miles (11794.81 kmē ) of it is land and 167.79 square miles (434.57 kmē) of it is water, giving it the sixth largest by total area among Oregon's county. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Oregon.

As of the census of 2000, there were 322959 residents, 130453 households, and 82180 families in the county. The population density was 70.9 people per square mile (27.37/kmē), making its Oregon's eighth most densely populated county. There were 138946 housing units at an average density of 30.5 per square mile (11.78/kmē). The average household size was 2.42 people, and the average family size was 2.92 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 12% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.5 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 346560, The racial makeup of the county was 317686 White, 3762 Black or African American, 4175 American Indian, 10092 Asian, 795 Native Hawaiian, and 10050 from two or more races.
