Lancaster County, Virginia is a county of the United States of Virginia. The population of the county was 11567 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 11466, It is Virginia's 25th least populous county. The county encompasses an area of 231.35 sq mi (599.19 square kilometre ), of which, 133.14 square miles (344.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 98.2 square miles (254.34 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 87th largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Virginia.

The population density was 86.9 people per square mile (33.55/kmē), giving it the 69th most densely populated county among the Virginia. In the county Age distribution was 19% under the age of 18, 5% from 18 to 24, 19.6% from 25 to 44, 28% from 45 to 64, and 28.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 115.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 122.7 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 11466, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 71.83% White, 26.9% Black or African American, 0.14% American Indian, 0.44% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.65% from two or more races.
