It is the ninth smallest in terms of population. The census designated place has a total area of 68.33 square miles (176.97 sq km), of which, 62.21 square miles (161.12 sq km) of it is land and 6.11 square miles (15.82 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.
