According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lake In The Hills Village is home to 23152 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 29698, It is the 89th most populous in the U.S. state of Illinois. It has total area of 9.64 square miles (24.97 sq km), of which, 9.4 square miles (24.35 sq km) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 sq km) of it is water, it is the 81st largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.
