Lake Helen City is one of the city of Volusia County, Florida, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 2743 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2784, It is the 561st largest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. The city extends throughout a territory of 4.32 square miles (11.19 sq km ), of which, 4.22 square miles (10.93 sq km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 381st largest by total area among Florida.

The population density was 650.1 people per square mile (251.01/kmē), making it the 210th least densely populated city in Florida. There were 1204 housing units at an average density of 285.3 per square mile (110.15/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the city Age distribution was 22.3% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 111.3 females. The median age of the city's population was 42.8 years, the median age of male residents at 41.7 and the median age of female residents at 43.9. The racial makeup of the city was 87.02% White, 10.68% Black or African American, 0.29% American Indian, 0.29% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 0.73% from two or more races and 0.95% Other races.
