Lake County, South Dakota is a county of the United States of South Dakota. Lake County had an official population of 11276 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 11693, making it South Dakota's 16th largest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 575.06 square miles (1489.4 square kilometre), of which, 563.23 square miles (1458.76 square kilometre) of it is land and 11.83 square miles (30.64 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 13th smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
