Lake County is one of the 36 county of Oregon, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 7422 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7239, It is Oregon's seventh least populous county. It is spread over 8358.47 miē (21648.34 kmē), of which, 8135.75 square miles (21071.5 kmē ) of it is land and 222.71 square miles (576.82 kmē) of it is water, making it the third largest by size in Oregon. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Oregon.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 7422 residents, 3084 households, and 2152 families in the county. The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), it is Oregon's second least densely populated county. There were 3999 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.39 persons, and the average family size was 2.84 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.3 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 7239, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 6821 White, 11 Black or African American, 187 American Indian, 54 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 155 from two or more races.
