Lake County is a county located in the United States of Florida. The population of the county was 210528 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 307243, It is 18th most populous county in Florida. It has total area of 1156.4 mi˛ (2995.06 square kilometre), of which, 953.15 square miles (2468.65 square kilometre) of it is land and 203.25 square miles (526.42 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 18th largest by total area among Florida's county.

The population density was 220.9 people per square mile (85.29/km˛), making it the 24th most densely populated county in Florida. There were 102830 housing units at an average density of 107.9 per square mile (41.66/km˛). The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.75. In the county the population was spread out, with 20.3% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 26.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.8 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 307243, The racial makeup of the county was 87.4% White, 9.33% Black or African American, 0.4% American Indian, 1.72% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.09% from two or more races.
