Lake County is a county located in the United States of Colorado. It is home to over 7812 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7994, making it Colorado's 41st largest county. The county spans an area of 383.9 sq mi (994.3 kmē), of which, 376.89 square miles (976.14 kmē) of it is land and 7.01 square miles (18.16 kmē) of it is water, it is the third smallest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

The population density was 20.7 people per square mile (7.99/kmē), it is Colorado's 22nd most densely populated county. There were 3913 housing units at an average density of 10.4 per square mile (4.02/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.59 persons, and the average family size was 3.15 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 26.9% under the age of 18, 12.8% from 18 to 24, 33.1% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 115.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 116.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7994, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.62% White, 0.26% Black or African American, 2.05% American Indian, 0.68% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 1.29% from two or more races.
