Lake County is one of the 58 county of California, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lake County is home to 58309 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 64866, giving it the 19th smallest population among California's county. It covers total area of 1329.48 square miles (3443.34 kmē), of which, 1257.96 square miles (3258.1 kmē) of it is land and 71.52 square miles (185.24 kmē) of it is water, it is the 36th largest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population was spread out, with 24.1% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.6 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 64866, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 89.79% White, 2.4% Black or African American, 3.45% American Indian, 1.31% Asian, 0.18% Native Hawaiian, and 2.88% from two or more races.
