Lake City City is a one of the Florence County, South Carolina, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6478 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 6666 in July 2008, making it South Carolina's 68th largest. Its area is just over 4.75 sq mi (12.3 square kilometre), of which, 4.75 square miles (12.3 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, making it South Carolina's 112th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6478 people in the city, organized into 2409 households, and 1706 families living in the city. The population density was 1365 people per square mile (527.03/kmē), it is 65th most densely populated city in South Carolina. There were 2704 housing units at an average density of 569.3 per square mile (219.81/kmē). The average household size was 2.67 people, and the average family size was 3.25 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 29.7% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 79.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 71.4 males. The median age was 34.2 years, the median age of male residents at 29.7 and the median age of female residents at 37.1. The racial makeup of the city was 1761 White, 4627 Black or African American, 5 American Indian, 22 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 45 from two or more races and 18 Ohter races.
