Lake Charles City is a city in the Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Lake Charles City is home to 71757 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 71061, It is the sixth largest in terms of population. The city encompasses an area of 42.53 sq mi (110.15 square kilometre ), of which, 40.17 square miles (104.04 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.37 square miles (6.14 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the sixth largest by total area in Louisiana. It is ranks 11 in the size of its inland waterways in Louisiana.
