Lake Benton City is a city located in the Lincoln County, Minnesota, United States. As of 2000 the population was 703. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 633, giving it the 413th largest population among Minnesota. The city encompasses an area of 4.65 mi˛ (12.04 square kilometre ), of which, 3.82 square miles (9.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.82 square miles (2.12 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Minnesota's 167th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 703 people, 334 households, and 196 families residing in the city. The population density was 183.8 people per square mile (70.97/km˛), giving it the 167th least densely populated city among the Minnesota. There were 365 housing units at an average density of 95.5 per square mile (36.87/km˛). The average household size was 2.09 persons, and the average family size was 2.78 persons.
