Lagrange County, Indiana is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 34909 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 37172, It is the 42nd most populous county in the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 386.72 sq mi (1001.6 kmē), of which, 379.56 square miles (983.06 kmē) of it is land and 7.15 square miles (18.52 kmē) of it is water, it is the 57th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 34909 residents, 11225 households, and 8856 families in the county. The population density was 92 people per square mile (35.52/kmē), giving it the 43rd most densely populated county among the Indiana. There were 12938 housing units at an average density of 34.1 per square mile (13.17/kmē). The average household size was 3.09 and the average family size was 3.54. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 33.8% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 10% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 37172, The racial makeup of the county was 98.33% White, 0.34% Black or African American, 0.15% American Indian, 0.47% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.69% from two or more races.
