Lafourche Parish is a parish in the United States of Louisiana. It is home to over 89974 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the parish is 92572, It is the 15th most populous parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish spans an area of 1472.19 square miles (3812.95 kmē), of which, 1084.68 square miles (2809.31 kmē) of it is land and 387.51 square miles (1003.65 kmē) of it is water, making it the sixth largest by size in Louisiana. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Louisiana.

The population density was 82.9 people per square mile (32.01/kmē), it is Louisiana's 25th most densely populated parish. In the parish the population was spread out, with 27.3% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.5 females.
