Lafayette County is a county in the United States of Missouri. As of 2000 the population was 32960. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 32913, making it the 34th most populous county in Missouri. The county encompasses an area of 638.86 square miles (1654.64 kmē ), of which, 629.31 square miles (1629.91 kmē) of it is land and 9.55 square miles (24.73 kmē) of it is water, it is the 47th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.
