The county encompasses an area of 679.29 square miles (1759.35 square kilometre ), of which, 631.11 square miles (1634.57 square kilometre) of it is land and 48.17 square miles (124.76 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 26th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Mississippi.
