Lafayette City is a city located in the Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, United States. As of 2000 the population was 110257. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 113656, It is the fifth largest by population in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It covers total area of 47.68 sq mi (123.49 square kilometre), of which, 47.59 square miles (123.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fifth largest by area in the U.S. state of Louisiana.
