La Salle Parish is one of the 64 parish of Louisiana, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 14282. In July 2008, its estimated population was 14062, making it Louisiana's tenth smallest parish. It is spread over 662.36 mi˛ (1715.5 square kilometre), of which, 623.83 square miles (1615.71 square kilometre ) of it is land and 38.54 square miles (99.82 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 35th largest by size in Louisiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14282 people, 5291 households, and 3798 families living in the parish. The population density was 22.9 people per square mile (8.84/km˛), it would be the tenth least densely populated parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. There were 6273 housing units at an average density of 10.1 per square mile (3.9/km˛). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. Age range in the parish was well distributed with 26.1% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 14062, The racial makeup of the parish was 85.37% White, 12.81% Black or African American, 0.79% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.83% from two or more races.
