La Quinta City, Riverside County, California is a city located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, the population was 23694. The July 2008 population estimate is 43865, It is the 279th largest in terms of population. The city encompasses an area of 32.19 sq mi (83.37 kmē ), of which, 31.75 square miles (82.23 kmē) of it is land and 0.44 square miles (1.14 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 79th largest by total area among California.

As of the census of 2000, there were 23694 people, 8445 households, and 6556 families residing in the city. The population density was 746.2 people per square mile (288.11/kmē), it is California's 327th least densely populated city. There were 11812 housing units at an average density of 372 per square mile (143.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.8 people, and the average family size was 3.16 people.
