La Porte City is a United States city located in the LaPorte County, Indiana, United States. It is home to over 21621 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 21174, It is Indiana's 36th largest by population . It covers total area of 12.17 sq mi (31.52 square kilometre), of which, 11.46 square miles (29.68 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.71 square miles (1.84 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 39th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.
