According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Kualapuu Cdp is home to 1936 inhabitants. It is the 82nd most populous in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The census designated place spans an area of 30.7 sq mi (79.51 kmē), of which, 30.46 square miles (78.89 kmē) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 kmē) of it is water, it is the tenth largest by area in the U.S. state of Hawaii.
