Kossuth County, Iowa is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 17163 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 15463, It is the 51st most populous county in the U.S. state of Iowa. The county extends throughout a territory of 974.39 mi˛ (2523.66 square kilometre ), of which, 973.01 square miles (2520.08 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.38 square miles (3.57 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

The population density was 17.6 people per square mile (6.8/km˛), making its Iowa's 14th least densely populated county. The population's age distribution was 25.8% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 15463, The racial makeup of the county was 15278 White, 24 Black or African American, 28 American Indian, 61 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 71 from two or more races.
