Kootenai County is a one of the county from Idaho's 44 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 108685. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 137475, It is the third largest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 1315.69 sq mi (3407.62 kmē), of which, 1245.12 square miles (3224.85 kmē) of it is land and 70.57 square miles (182.78 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 23rd largest by total area in Idaho. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Idaho.

As of the census of 2000, there were 108685 people, 41308 households, and 29668 families residing in the county. The population density was 87.3 people per square mile (33.71/kmē), giving it the third most densely populated county among the Idaho. There were 46607 housing units at an average density of 37.4 per square mile (14.44/kmē). The average household size was 2.6 people, and the average family size was 3.03 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 27.1% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 137475, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.59% White, 0.61% Black or African American, 1.34% American Indian, 0.67% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 1.73% from two or more races.
