Kodiak Island Borough is a borough in the United States of Alaska. The population of the borough was 13913 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 13049, giving it the eighth largest population among Alaska's borough. It is spread over 12023.67 sq mi (31141.16 sq km), of which, 6559.85 square miles (16989.93 sq km ) of it is land and 5463.83 square miles (14151.25 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 17th largest by total area among Alaska's county. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13913 people, 4424 households, and 3257 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2.1 people per square mile (0.81/kmē), giving it the ninth most densely populated borough among the Alaska. There were 5159 housing units at an average density of 0.8 per square mile (0.31/kmē). It has an average household size was 3.07 persons, and the average family size was 3.52 persons. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 32.4% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 34% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 4.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 112.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 117.4 males. The borough's estimated population as of July 2008 was 13049, The racial makeup of the borough was 61.81% White, 1.61% Black or African American, 14.59% American Indian, 16.22% Asian, 1.03% Native Hawaiian, and 4.74% from two or more races.
