Knox County is a county in the United States of Nebraska. The population of the county was 9374 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 8498, It is the 33rd most populous county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The county encompasses an area of 1139.65 mi˛ (2951.68 square kilometre ), of which, 1108.12 square miles (2870.02 square kilometre) of it is land and 31.53 square miles (81.66 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 12th largest by total area in Nebraska. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Nebraska.

The population density was 8.5 people per square mile (3.28/km˛), it is the 51st most populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 21.9% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 23.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males. Its population was estimated at 8498 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 89.86% White, 0.13% Black or African American, 9.04% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 0.75% from two or more races.
