Kitsap County is a United States county located in the United States of Washington. The county has a population of 231969 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 239769, It is Washington's seventh most populous county. Its area is just over 565.98 square miles (1465.88 square kilometre), of which, 395.97 square miles (1025.56 square kilometre) of it is land and 170.01 square miles (440.32 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the third smallest by size in Washington. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Washington.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 231969 people, 86416 households, and 61344 families residing in the county. The population density was 585.8 people per square mile (226.18/kmē), it is Washington's second most densely populated county. There were 92644 housing units at an average density of 234 per square mile (90.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.6 people, and the average family size was 3.05 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.8% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 97.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 98.8 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 239769, The racial makeup of the county was 205734 White, 6736 Black or African American, 4087 American Indian, 11073 Asian, 1854 Native Hawaiian, and 10285 from two or more races.
