Kirkwood City is a city located in the St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 27324 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 26760, making it the 23rd most populous in Missouri. It has total area of 9.28 square miles (24.04 sq km), of which, 9.23 square miles (23.91 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, making it Missouri's 57th largest by total area.

The population density was 2961.3 people per square mile (1143.36/kmē), it is 68th most densely populated city in Missouri. In the city the population was spread out, with 23.4% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.4 males. The median age was 41.1 years, the median age of male residents at 38.8 and the median age of female residents at 42.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 90.76% White, 7.07% Black or African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0.81% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 0.94% from two or more races and 0.27% Other races.
